Gavin Rothwell (5th Dan) is now the Senior Instructor at Southampton University KDS. He started training in 1987 and became club president in 1990. Gavin was awarded his 5th Dan by Harada Sensei in 2014.
Gavin has previously been chairman of the KDS organisation and now forms part of the team that runs national-level courses throughout the year, including the annual international Summer School.
Gavin is often assisted by Edd Beale (3rd Dan) and Mark Shipsides (3rd Dan), who are enthusiastic instructors, that between them have many years experience at practising KDS Karate and often contribute new ideas and approaches to practice.
We have a lively group of very keen Brown Belts who assist with instruction in normal club sessions!
